ABOUT TERENCE

Hi, I’m Terence, Founder (and “Consultant Prime”) of SquareWave.ai, an Artificial Intelligence consultancy built for people working in the music industry.

The road that led me here is a bit non-linear. I graduated from Penn State with a degree in Security and Risk Analysis. Before that, I spent two years majoring in Music Performance (viola) at Penn State, and I also studied Film Production for a year at Cal State Northridge. After college, I joined Accenture, where I spent more than nine years working as an IT consultant. I started as a functional consultant and later became an IT quality assurance manager and test lead on a number of large-scale IT implementation projects (primarily for electric companies).

After working as a consultant for over nine years, I went through some “tough times” that derailed my life and career for a few years. Buy me a drink sometime and I’ll tell you all about it.

When I started rebuilding and thinking about what came next, I realized that there was a real opportunity at the intersection of three areas of my life:

Consulting

While I may not have loved every minute of my work as an enterprise-level IT consultant, after nine years I built an extremely strong consulting toolbelt. I understand how to identify opportunities for improvement, solve problems, and turn messy situations into clear plans and execution.

Music

I have loved music my entire life. Beyond studying it academically, I am deeply interested in music theory, technology, production, and more recently, the marketing and business sides of the music industry.

Artificial Intelligence

AI grabbed my attention early. The tools are evolving fast, and I realized that the gap between what’s possible and what most people can actually implement is massive.

At the intersection of these three areas, I saw the opportunity to help people. SquareWave.ai exists to close the AI knowledge gap. I help music professionals (artists, producers, managers, agents, marketers, label teams, and builders) identify the right AI tools and workflows for what they’re trying to accomplish, so they can create more, move faster, and operate with real leverage.

For me, this has always been the point: Building systems and support that help other people succeed. More than anything, I love being the person behind the scenes who helps others find success. Over the years, that’s looked like a lot of things: Helping build sets and lighting for my theater club when I was in high school, teaching a loved one how to drive and helping them land their first job, assisting a retail customer in their quest to find the perfect product that meets their needs, making a hundred calls to help a friend get into rehab, or more recently, showing friends how to prompt ChatGPT more effectively. In my consulting years, the best moments came when I stepped back and saw how the projects I was part of actually improved my client’s business, made their day-to-day operations more efficient, and helped them deliver better products and services to their customers. That is the ethos I bring to SquareWave.ai.

The other thing I loved about consulting was that each client brought new and unique challenges. Walking into a new client site meant new people, new processes, new systems, and new problems to solve. AI feels like that, but multiplied: It is evolving at a brutal pace, and staying useful requires constant learning, experimenting, and filtering. There are a thousand tools available, but only a handful are worth your time.

Since moving to Nashville, I have spoken with many people in the music world about AI. The reactions range from excited to skeptical to completely overwhelmed. Some reject it entirely. Some want to use it but don’t know where to start. Others have dabbled, but don’t have a strategy or a workflow that holds up in real life.

Here is what I believe: AI is a tool. You can use it selectively, ignore it when it doesn’t help, and keep your creative identity intact. Some things should stay human. Other things, especially repetitive, time-consuming, expensive, or annoying work, can be delegated to AI so you can focus on what actually matters.

SquareWave.ai is one of the “good guys” in the AI space. My goal is to help music professionals use AI to enhance creativity, efficiency, and profitability, and to make SquareWave.ai a trusted one-stop resource at the intersection of AI and music. If you’re trying to figure out what to adopt, what to ignore, and how to build a real advantage without getting lost in the noise, I’d love to connect.
